NCA is a Christian, college preparatory school, located in Springfield, Misouri, serving approximately 405 students in grades Jr. Kindergarten through twelve.

NCA Provides:

  1. Christian faculty and staff who serve as excellent role models for students.
  2. Accredited by the North Central Association Commission on Accreditation and School Improvement (NCA CASI) as well as the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI).
  3. Member of the Missouri State High School Activities Association (MSHSAA) and Mark Twain Conference (MTC). NCA competes with the following schools in various sporting events/academic events: High School Sports: Niangua High School, Hurley High School, Chadwick High School, Braleyville High School, Humansville High School, Blue Eye High School, Fair Play High School, Wheatland High School, Seymour High School, Everton High School, Pleasant Hope High School, Clever High School, Greenwood Lab High School, Galena High School, College Heights Christian School, Thomas Jefferson Independent Day School, Willard High School, Ozark High School, Aurora High School, Lutie High School and Norwood High School. High School Spring sports: additionally include Hillcrest High School, Parkview High School, and Kickapoo. Middle School Sports: College Heights, Springfield Lutheran, Christian Schools of Springfield, Thomas Jefferson Independent Day School, Trinity Lutheran of Friestatt, Emmanuel Lutheran School, Piece City and Lake Country Soccer Fields in Springfield.
  4. Strong college preparatory program that integrates faith and learning.
  5. Stanford Achievement Test and ACT College entrance test results that exceed the national average.
  6. Exciting weekly chapel services that challenge students to grow spiritually.
  7. Co-curricular classes in band, choir, art, drama, library, physical education, Spanish, computer and business.
  8. Extracurricular activities such as field trips, retreats, clubs, academic competitions, international or cross-cultural senior mission trips, student council, and Christian service projects.
  9. Competitive athletic program for boys and girls in grades 7-12.

PHYSICAL PLANT AND GROUNDS

The campus consists of the main building on 22 acres of land. In the air conditioned facility there are thirty classrooms, library, computer laboratory, gymnasium, weight room and kitchen, as well as the office complex for the entire Academy. Each school (elementary, intermediate, middle school and high school) are located in separate wings of the building. Two soccer fields and extensive play areas complete the campus.

The Academy recently finished building Phase I of the long term new High School Facility Plan. This includes a 6,000 square foot addition which will temporarily house the fine arts department and new weight room and will eventually be converted to a new Library/Media Room. Our ribbon cutting ceremony took place August 2008, attendees included, hundreds of parents/families, the Springfield Chamber of Commerce, The Springfield Newsleader, and KOLR 10 news.

TECHNOLOGY

The Academy provides a computer network and Internet access to each classroom and office. Currently, the office complex computers are connected via a local network. The computer laboratory has 20 computers for student use, a new resource lab was added in the 2008-2009 school year with an additional 15 computers and other computers are located in classrooms and in the Library. The Academy has approximatey 147 computers on 2 servers.

Dr. Cindy Evans, Superintendent at New Covenant Academy is placing a focus on Educational Technology this school year and has begun an intensive strategic planning year to improve the use of technology campus wide.

 

FACULTY AND STAFF

There are a total of 54 full-time employees: 37 faculty members, 4 administrative team members and 12 staff (which include office staff, kitchen crew, and custodians). We also employ several part-time employees in the area of custodial, extended care workers, bus drivers and coaches (approximately 14 coaches on staff). Eighty-percent of our faculty are certified through the Association of Christian Schools International for instruction. Seventy-eight percent of our faculty are certified to teach in the state of Missouri or another state within the United States. Thirty percent of our faculty members hold Masters Degrees. Of those faculty members not certified to teach, they either hold a Masters Degree or extensive specialized training in the area that they teach. All full-time faculty members hold an undergraduate degree. All coaches must meet educational requirements by the Missouri State High School Activities Association.

Faculty and Staff members are all required to have a Christian Testimony and sign a life-style agreement which states they will uphold a life-style conducive to Biblical Principals; additionally they sign a "Statement of Faith" which upholds the basic tenants of faith in which the academy supports.

STUDENTS AND CLASS SIZE

In 2009-2010 there are approximately 362 students enrolled in the academy:

Elementary School (K4 through 4) : 97 students
Intermediate School (5 and 6): 49 students
Middle School (7 through 8): 46 students
High School (9 through 12): 123 students

Average class size in Elementary is 14 students per class

Average class size in Secondary is 12-25 students per class
